Arrival | Ending Scene

Spoiler of Arrival only in video, not in the text

Sometimes we appreciate films, music, dance and lack the words to describe it appropriately. The last couple of months for me were of quiet appreciation of these things, therefore the lack of posts. But even if you lack the proper words to explain something, that doesn’t mean you will forget it. I like to watch this scene once in a while because I find it so beautiful. I feel I have no other words to describe what it makes me feel. If you think you cannot appreciate it without having watched the movie, go do it!

This scene was at the right place, at the right time. The time when we watched a certain movie or dance piece, or heard a song for the first time (or for that memorable time), can obviously also influence our feelings and memories around it. This scene introduced me to Max Richter, and I would rapidly fall in love for On the Nature of Daylight (the music in the background). Without knowing it, it prepared me to watch the dance piece Infra, 2 years later on the London Royal Opera House, which is also with Richter’s magnificent sound. I rarely re-watch movies but I remember being on a plane ride Boston-Frankfurt and going fast forward on Arrival, capturing enough to remember more details of the story so that I could finally reach this scene, that I was longing for. I think it was also this movie that made me fond of small, vintage, cozy movie theaters. And it was by chance that I found it this evening, typing a youtube address which autocomplete to this. Such a delightful refresher.

There is something about art and about the representation of what makes us human that is so special but makes it also very hard to capture. For you, the beautiful final scene of the movie arrival, one of my favorite movie scenes of all time.

SPOILER ALERT: This is the final scene of the movie Arrival
